Friday, Aug. 8

A Look at Student Violence - 7 p.m. Area students past and present will put on “Bang, Bang You're Dead” at the Ramona Hillside Players' playhouse In Hemet. The performance takes a look at teen killers. Performances are at 7 p.m. today and at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5 and reservations can be made by calling 312-1413.

Saturday, Aug. 9

“Annie Jr.” - 3 and 7 p.m. Young actors will put on a play for young people with “Annie, Jr.” Performances will be at the West Valley High School theater in Hemet at 7 p.m. Friday; 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12. They may be purchased at the door or by calling 925-7221.

Sunday, Aug. 10

Swim the Summer Away - 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District's Aquatic Center is open seven days a week. The 25-yard outdoor pool is outside Diamond Valley Lake, off Domenigoni Parkway. For information, call 929-0047.

Monday, Aug. 11

Ballroom Dancing - 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dance instructor Elaine Bare teaches ballroom dancing Mondays at the Seven Hills Members Club, at 3050 Jacaranda Way in Hemet. Each class costs $7 for Seven Hills members and $8 for nonmembers. For information, call Bare at 791-8650.

Tai Chi - 1 to 2 p.m. Susan Cedar teaches tai chi Mondays at Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District's Regional Center in San Jacinto. She teaches a second class at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Family Center of the First Presbyterian Church in Hemet. Classes cost $5 apiece. For information, call Cedar at 750-2655.

Tuesday, Aug. 12

Swingin' - 6 to 9 p.m. “Swing in the Lounge” at The Wheelhouse in Hemet is offered Tuesdays. The music features Fred Massey and his swing combo, with Ray Strait on vocals. Dancers and swing music fans are welcome. The cost is $5. For information, call Rusty at 347-6568.

Bingo - 6 p.m. American Legion Post 53 offers bingo on Tuesday evenings. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., and games start at 6. The post is at 124 N. Ramona St. in Hemet. For information, call 658-2436.

Wednesday, Aug. 13

Country Dancing - 7 to 9:30 p.m. Dance instructor Hall Corbett gives country dancing lessons at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays at the Winchester Inn & Salon. Dancers can do the two-step between 7 and 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 and 10:30 p.m. Friday. The inn is at 28314 Winchester Road in Winchester. For information, call Corbett at 658-1549.

Thursday, Aug. 14

Honoring the Code Talkers - 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Valle Vista Library will show a film to mark National Navajo Code Talkers Day. The film, “True Whispers,” tells the story of the Navajo code talkers of World War II. It will be shown at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and admission is free.
